Three Home Maintenance Jobs to do in the Summer

By ruiiid5

There are lots of things that you can do in the summer months to make the winter easier for you and your home. The better weather provides an opportunity for you to be able to do certain jobs around the home – here are some of the areas that you can focus on to help you through the colder months…

Heating System – In the summer we enjoy better weather, and higher temperatures. This means that we are not in need of our boilers as much and don’t have to use the central heating in the house. This means that the summer is a great time for you to save on your heating bills, but it is also a great time to make sure that your boiler and your heating is working well, and to get anything that isn’t working as well as it should be repaired before the winter sets in, and we come to rely on it again.

Check your heating for any strange noises coming from the boiler, check that hot water is coming through and feel the radiators to make sure that they are heating evenly with no cold spots. Get a heating engineer to come and service your boiler and make sure that everything is working correctly.

Drains and Plumbing – Summer can be tough on drains – bad smells from rotten food that are blocking pipes and tree roots looking for water are two things that can cause drainage problems in the summer. To get a good idea of what is going on in your drains, get a company who provide CCTV drainage surveys like this www.wilkinson-env.co.uk/drainage-services-cctv-surveys-midlands/cctv-drain-surveys/cctv-drain-surveys-gloucester/ to come and inspect the drains and repair any damage that may be down there. Summer is a great time for this as you don’t have to battle rain and freezing temperatures.

Garden Repairs – Whilst the sun is out, there are lots of garden jobs that you can do. Fences often get damaged by the elements, so now is the time to do repairs to the fence, as well as painting and treating the wood. Sheds and other outdoor structures can also be repaired at this time of year to make sure they are ready for the winter.
