How to clean your computer

By ruiiid5

It’s not just ugly, but dust and dirt can damage your computer components. Regular cleaning will help to keep your computer running optimally and prevent costly repairs.

Keep your keyboard clean

As we use keyboards daily, they can accumulate unwanted things such as liquids, dust and food particles. These can cause the keys to stop working correctly.

Unplug your keyboard, flip it upside-down, and gently shake it to remove dust and dirt. You can use compressed air to remove stubborn dirt and grime from between the keyboard keys.

Liquid spills

We all know the damage that can be done to your keyboard if liquid spills on it. Close the computer immediately and unplug your keyboard if this happens. Turn the keyboard upside-down and drain the liquid. If the liquid is sticky, you can run the keyboard under the tap on its side. Let it drain upside down for 48 hours, then reconnect.

Keep the monitor clean

It can be difficult to see through screens that are covered in dust, dirt, and fingerprints. Avoid glass cleaners because they can damage your monitor if not used correctly. Glass cleaners can damage screens that have anti-glare coatings. Use a microfibre towel that is slightly dampened and clean.

Other Computer Surfaces

You may also want to clean the sides and back of your computer, as they can attract dirt and dust. Dust can affect the performance of your computer and cause it to overheat. If you need Laptop Repair Gloucester, visit https://www.cotswoldcomputermedic.co.uk/laptop-repair-gloucester

Dust the surfaces with an anti-static cloth. Avoid using solvents or furniture polishes. You can use compressed air cans to remove dust from air intake gaps.

Keep it Cool

Do not restrict airflow in your laptop or computer. The fans on these units help to prevent overheating. Avoid putting books or paperwork too close to your computer.
