Three up-and-coming Gloucestershire property locations

By

Gloucestershire is a beautiful county to live in, with an interesting mix of cities, traditional English villages and beautiful countryside. It enjoys good road links, with the M4, M5 and M40 linking up to major cities such as Bristol, Reading and Birmingham, and a good rail network to London. Property prices tend to be attractive, especially if you avoid the trendy Cotswolds towns.

This is why many investors have their eye on buying property in Gloucestershire and we have found three up-and-coming Gloucestershire property locations for you to look at.

Lower cost of Gloucester

Surprisingly, some of the cheapest property in the county is in the city of Gloucester, which is much cheaper than nearby Cheltenham, the Forest of Dean, Stroud and Tewkesbury. The city has good links to the M5 motorway and a railway station with links to Cardiff, London, Nottingham and Cheltenham, among others.

The average price of a property in Gloucester is £186,121, according to Rightmove. A popular area is the Gloucester Quays development, with its riverside location and shopping centre.

Enjoy the country feel of Churchdown

Churchdown is a popular choice and the village has a very rural feel. It is surrounded by countryside, while being just six miles from Gloucester city centre, and there is a good bus service to the city and to Cheltenham. The local landmark is Churchdown Hill with far-reaching views across the Severn Vale and the Cotswolds. It is great for country walks and there is a golf course nearby. You will find several attractive buildings, including the church, and good traditional pubs.

The average price of a property is £216,980, with most sales being semi-detached homes.

If you are renovating property, you may want the added security of finding a company to fit automatic gates in Gloucestershire, such as protonaccesscontrol.com.

Go green in the Forest of Dean

Country lovers will appreciate the open spaces and ‘greenness’ of the historic Forest of Dean, which was a famous hunting ground in Tudor times. The forest has many different tree types, including oak, beech and chestnut, making it particularly beautiful in the autumn. It is also home to deer, wild boar and many species of bird.

The average price of a property in the Forest of Dean is £209,063, with many sales being detached properties with an average price of £265,638.
