It was home to Gerry Andersons Creations – Some of the famous puppet series of the 1950’s, created by Gerry Anderson, were produced in Slough trading estate – where would the world be without Thunderbirds?
It achieved worldwide fame in 2001 – When the Office, the sitcom created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant first hit our screens, it catapulted Slough trading Estate into the spotlight, with the offices of fictional paper supplier Wernham Hogg where the series was filmed selling for a huge 325 million pounds in 2015!
It created its own community – In the 1920s and 30s the estate grew rapidly, and this caused a need for more housing in the local area. A town of wooden army barrack style houses were built to serve this need, and the interiors were spacious and modern, and the area had a good sense of community spirit.
